While the COVID-19 crisis has been detrimental to the globe, Northwest Coastal Housing (NWCH) works to ensure their families at their 80 unit affordable housing complex do not go hungry. Several months back, NWCH applied for funds to partner with Food Share of Lincoln County to help feed our hurting families, especially those on fixed incomes or living paycheck to paycheck. The end of the month is particularly difficult while waiting for the 1st of the month payments when most resources, especially food, are depleted in the homes.
This food for the families would not have been possible without the partnership of the Food Share of Lincoln County and a grant from Walmart. Not only are the families supplied food, but they are supplied nutritious and healthy food. Our OSU Extension Office partners also work with our complexes to provide nutritional resources, recipes, and healthy tips through programs such as “Food Hero”.
Once thought to be for kids only, our eyes were opened once receiving a tutorial on the Food Hero website. If you struggle knowing what to make with a certain food, this is the site for you. Check it out and give it a try! (My own husband hates squash, which he calls squish. I now have some great ideas!) Click the link here: https://foodhero.org/
As the Executive Director of this nonprofit affordable housing development organization, I would be remiss not to thank our great staff (Robert Bare, pictured in photo) and the onsite Community Manager, Glenna Brown. Way to go guys! That is mission driven. This is what we call, “Housing with a Heart”.
The Ridge Apartments in Lincoln City provides housing to families, homeless families with children, seniors, disabled, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and many more.
Our organization cannot say thank you enough to our partners, donors and funders. Without you, we could not be who we are. Relevant…
As a small nonprofit, we try to make the biggest impact we can with our limited resources, but they are running low. If you would like to make a monetary donation towards our organization, you may click the donate button or mail a check to:
